As early as in the early 1960s, foreign countries began the industrial production of EBS. At present, there are dozens of commodity brands mainly composed of EBS, and the total output and consumption in the world are still increasing year by year. In the early 1980s, based on the rapid development of domestic PVC hard products processing industry, the demand for high-performance lubricants is more urgent, so the development of fatty acid bisamide additives varieties began to be paid attention to, but at present, the development of fatty acid bisamide additives varieties in China, the supply capacity is still unable to meet the needs of the market. Stearic acid and ethylenediamine were directly condensed and dehydrated under the action of catalyst to obtain ethylenedistearamide. Because of its unique structure, EBS is widely used in plastic processing, rubber processing, metal processing and petroleum products.
 
1. In the plastic processing industry, EBS is mainly used as lubricating release agent, smooth agent, pigment dispersant and auxiliary stabilizer. On the other hand, EBS can migrate from the inside of the resin melt to the surface, reducing the friction between the resin particles and between the resin melt and the processing equipment, preventing it from sticking to the metal surface and playing an external lubrication role.
 
2. When EBS is used with semi-blocked phenolic antioxidants, the stability of polyolefin filled with inorganic fillers can be significantly improved. EBS can have a strong affinity with inorganic fillers or pigments, making them adhere to the surface of particles, while the long carbon chain groups are compatible with the resin, so it can improve the dispersity of pigments
 
3, in rubber processing, EBS can be used as rubber lubricant, anti-adhesive, release agent, filler surface modifier and hard rubber surface treatment agent, its outstanding performance is to improve the surface gloss of rubber plate, hose and other products, play the role of surface gloss agent.
 
4, when drawing wire, using EBS can improve the speed of drawing, prolong the life of the metal mold, and improve the surface smoothness of the wire. In addition, in the powder metallurgy molding, before the metal melting, first to EBS bonding, and EBS as a lubricant of the metal mold, can reduce the wear of the metal mold, EBS is used in the powder metal molding process of various metal parts.

At present, the production capacity and output of EBS in China cannot meet the needs of actual production, so it has to be imported in large quantities every year and has broad prospects for development. In the future, the relevant domestic enterprises should strengthen the research of technology and production management, improve the quality of products and increase the market share. In addition, further application research should be carried out to expand the new application fields of EBS, so as to promote the development of engineering plastics and polymer alloys in China.
